Workforce Investment Agency renews MOU with Hawai’i Job Corps | Business section

(CNMI DOL) — CNMI’s Department of Labor Workforce Investment Agency renewed its agreement with the Hawai’i Job Corps during an on-site visit to the Waimanalo Center. The signing was assisted by DOL and CNMI Finance, who also attended the workforce meeting with staff from USDOL Region 6 and Waimanalo Center.

Under the agreement, CNMI agrees to further the mission of the Hawaii Job Corp Centers to provide academic, vocational, technical and social development training to young men and women ages 18-24 to become a responsible, productive and employed community. members; and perform certain services in the area of ​​outreach, admissions and career transition services for the Job Corps program.

The Hawai’i Job Corps is a free residential program with career training offerings in Automotive Technician, Culinary Arts, Facilities Maintenance, Hospitality and Lodging, Landscaping, Office Administration, Painting, Safety and Protective Services, Workforce Training Registered Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship, Certified Nurse Aid to include high school diploma or equivalent. Programs are self-paced with pre-training opportunities at centers in the Americas

“This collaborative partnership between CNMI and Hawai’i Job Corps expands opportunities for our young people to advance in careers and improve their employability,” said CNMI Secretary of Labor Vicky Benavente.

She added, “This is a valuable long-term relationship that continues to provide young CNMI citizens with additional options for their career choices.
