More than 200 new jobs are expected to be created at 2 Sisters Food Group’s poultry site in Sandycroft following a £ 7.5million investment in new technology and upgrades.
2 Sisters is a major supplier to the UK’s largest supermarkets, as well as wholesale products to KFC.
His Sandycroft site treats one million birds per week and is one of the largest within 2 Sisters employing over 1300 people.
This investment has enabled the installation of new technologies, including automated packaging lines, new packaging machines, the upgrade of cutting lines to increase capacity and the introduction of X-ray bone detection machines. for the production of nets.
As a result, the site is now recruiting over 200 additional workers in roles such as butchers, tailors, hangers, and primary operators working on various shift models.

In addition to the new roles, the site will recruit up to 60 new apprentices over the next 12 months.
After launching its Butchery Academy apprenticeship program with Coleg Cambria, the site will offer a fully funded Level 2 of Excellence in Poultry Feed Manufacturing.
This will provide a vocational pathway for apprentices to obtain a nationally recognized qualification while earning a wage at the market rate and not at the usual rate for apprentices.
Apprentices will start with a standard weekly wage of £ 393 – plus the possibility of earning £ 431 per week after just 12 weeks. New admissions are expected to start every 12 weeks until July 2022.
